On 27 March 2025, the CAN.HEAL project held its final event in Brussels, bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to reflect on the project’s outcomes and contributions to advancing equitable and personalized healthcare across Europe.
As part of the event, a video series was recorded to capture key reflections from project partners across work packages. The interviews highlight achievements in genomic integration, prevention strategies, data governance, and implementation challenges.
Featured participants include:
- Angelo Maria Pezzullo, Luigi Russo, Eleonora, Erika Giacobini, and Bedo Taha (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, WP14), who discussed evidence-based recommendations on molecular tumour boards, polygenic risk scores, and liquid biopsy.
- Matt McCrary (Hannover Medical School), co-lead of the Public Health Genomics arm, focused on integrating genomics into public health strategies.
- Hélène Antoine-Poire and Chloe Mayeur (Sciensano), addressing ethical governance, citizen engagement, and genomics in the patient journey.
- Monika Kolanowska (Medical University of Warsaw, WP8), reflecting on the establishment of molecular tumour boards in Poland.
- Jeroen van Rooij (Erasmus Medical Center, WP4), who led work on biobanking and genomic data coordination.
- Anke Bergmann (University Hospital Würzburg), involved in data sharing for public health genomics.
- Stefania Tuveri and Tom Broeckx (KU Leuven, WP6), exploring cancer and pregnancy use cases and innovation transfer.
- Stefania Boccia (Gemelli Hospital and Università Cattolica, WP10), on healthcare system implementation strategies.
- Andres Metspalu (Tartu University), discussing the diversity and cross-border applicability of polygenic risk scores.
- Annalisa Trama (National Cancer Institute Milan), highlighting synergies between CAN.HEAL recommendations and ongoing joint actions like JANE2.
- Claudia Prats (AQuAS Catalonia, WP3), who coordinated the evaluation of innovative interventions and their maturity levels.
The video series offers a concise and accessible view of the individuals and institutions that have shaped CAN.HEAL’s direction and policy outputs.
